Basic Quran Reading Online — Read the Mushaf with Confidence

Basic Quran Reading, known as Nazra, is the stage where the letters and sounds you learned in the Qaida turn into reading the actual Quran. Over a few months of short one-to-one lessons, a student goes from reading single words to reading full verses and then whole pages directly from the Mushaf — with correct pronunciation the whole way. We teach it live, 7 days a week, to children from about age 5 and to adults.

Here's how we think about it: reading the Quran isn't about speed, it's about accuracy that becomes fluent. So our teachers slow down where it matters — a mispronounced letter or a missed vowel gets corrected in the moment, every lesson — until smooth, correct reading is simply the habit. Get this stage right and Tajweed, memorisation and understanding all sit on solid ground.

Frequently asked questions

Everything parents and beginners ask about Quran reading.

Basic Quran Reading — often called Nazra — is reading the Quran directly from the Mushaf (the physical Quran) with correct sounds. It's the stage after Noorani Qaida: instead of a beginner's primer, the student reads real verses and, by the end, reads full pages of the Quran fluently.
Noorani Qaida teaches the letters, sounds and rules in a beginner's book. Basic Quran Reading applies all of that to the actual Quran — reading connected words, full verses and then whole pages from the Mushaf. Qaida is the foundation; Nazra is reading the Quran itself.
Ideally, yes — the Qaida gives you the letters and sounds this course builds on. If you can already recognise the Arabic letters and short vowels, you can start here. Not sure where you fit? The free trial lesson tells us in a few minutes, and we start you at the right point.
With regular one-to-one classes, most students read fluently from the Mushaf within about 4 to 8 months. It depends on age, starting level and how often you attend. Children doing two or three short lessons a week sit comfortably in that range.
Yes. Many of our students are adults in the UK and abroad who never had the chance as children. Classes are one-to-one, so nobody watches you learn except your own teacher, and evening and weekend slots fit around work.
Yes. We correct pronunciation and apply the essential Tajweed rules word by word as you read, so correct recitation becomes a habit from the start rather than something to fix later. Deeper Tajweed continues in our dedicated Tajweed course.
Absolutely. We have qualified female teachers for sisters and children who prefer to learn with a female tutor — just request one when you book your free trial.
