How to Make a Habit of Reciting the Quran Daily
Quran is ultimate source of guidance for Muslims. Its very important for us to stick to the Holy Book and recite Quran Daily. But due to the fast and busy life most if us are not able to read Quran on regular basis. It is very important and a matter of death for Muslims to recite Quran in daily life practice. We should remember Allah saying:
‘Verily, in this (the Qur’an) there is a plain Message for people who worship Allah (i.e, the true, real believers of Islamic Monotheism who act practically on the Qur’an and the Sunnah legal ways of the Prophet.” (Surah Al Anbiya: 106)
How you can claim to be the worshiper of Allah SWT if you are not even reading the book He sent? I realized that my error was waiting for free time in which to recite the Qur’an, when I was supposed to create time so that I would be able to read the Qur’an daily.
Abu Musa narrated that the Prophet (sa) said, “Keep on reciting the Qur’an, for, by Him in Whose Hand my life is, the Qur’an runs away (is forgotten) faster than camels that are released from their tying ropes.” (Sahih Bukhari)
We can get closer to Allah SWT if we make our habit to read the holy Qur’an daily. And it will lead us to the right path and hopefully earn the reward of Jannah. Here we are going to write some methods you can try to build a regular of love with you and Quran.
Make a Sincere Intention
The intention is the most important thing behind every act. Your acts are justified based on your intentions. You must make a sincere intention before starting any good deed. To embark this noble journey you should start by making an intention either verbally or in your mind. It will ensure that you reap the reward of the activity and it will also keep you focused on noble aim. Making attention to read the Qur’an daily means that you are committing yourself to it with Allah as your witness. After you make the intention Allah opens the doors of guidance and make your aim easy.
Have a Plan
The thing which comes next after intention to achieve your goal of reading the Qur’an daily is making a workable plan. You must decide first how many verses or pages you are going to read per day. Roughly, the Quran has about 600 pages and 114 chapters which are further divided into 30 juz (parts). You can make a commitment to yourself whatever you are going to read. Whether its a single verse, a page or more than a page per day, depending upon the time available.
You must also spare the time for reading the Quran. This is very important to achieve consistency and avoid distractions. You you must decide by defining the time you are going to spend for this purpose. This is very important because if would not define proper time for this it you may not be able to achieve your goal. You can think of the time you have free in your office, home or other place which you can utilize for a better use. You can plan your Quran reading before or right after prayers or schedule your reading at night time, just before you go to bed.
Take Baby Steps
Biting more than you can chew easily overwhelms and discourage you from adopting a habit. The best way to adopt a habit is taking baby steps and moving gradually into it. Rushing yourself orbiting more than you can chew can easily overwhelm you, and discourage you from making a habit of reading the Qur’an daily. So it is advised that start reading with bits and as much as you can easily manage. It is more productive to read a little daily than it is to read one chapter in a day and nothing for the next five days. In this way you will not find any excuses like insufficient time and you won’t postpone it.
Keep in mind that we are here we talking to make habit of reciting Quran daily not to just finish reading it by a certain time.
Hold Yourself Accountable
Make yourself accountable for sticking to the routine of daily Quran recitation in the same way you make sure that you do not miss any salah. you should act towards reading the Qur’an every day. Treat the daily recitation of Qur’an as important as observing your prayers, and you will slowly condition yourself to keep the habit. If you happen to miss any day, challenge yourself to make up for the missed day by reciting more on another day.
